a Retirement Where You’re in Charge—And Doing Work That Matters
Starting your own business allows you to:
- Create Your Own Opportunity: Age is just a number when you’re the boss. Build a venture (or as I like to say “an adventure”) that recognizes your talent and respects your experience.
- Achieve Financial Freedom: Generate income on your terms, without needing to rely on savings or settle for work that doesn’t inspire you. Do what you want to do, when you want to do it and with whom you want!
- Make a Real Impact: Channel your skills into something purposeful that provides value and lets you leave a legacy. You can also create a ripple effect to influence your family, friends and your community.
- Start While You’re Still Employed: Build your business on the side, minimizing financial risk. Test the waters, gain traction, and transition at your own pace.
Whether you’re interested in consulting, coaching, launching a passion project, or starting a small business, entrepreneurship empowers you to take control of your future with confidence and purpose—without needing to leave your day job right away.

About Me...
Empowering Women to Thrive with Financial Independence and Fulfillment
After 30 years in finance and investment, and founding my own consulting company to help small businesses strategize, secure funding, andgrow, I realized my next chapter was clear: to become a business coach working with entrepreneurs to start and grow their businesses. Over the last three years I’ve worked with almost one hundred women, mostly in their 60s, 70s, and 80s. Each of them recognized they had so much more to give and wanted more financial security in their retirement.
Despite all the progress over the decades in providing equal opportunity, too many women are still being limited by circumstances that prevent financial freedom or security, impacting not only their dreams but also their future retirement. My mission is to help women break through these barriers by launching their own businesses and creating meaningful, self-directed sources of income. That way they can stop playing small and live the life of their dreams!
I once read an interview with an 80-year-old retired teacher in Pennsylvania who shared that each year in retirement, she’s faced with new sacrifices to make ends meet. Her fixed pension and Social Security have stayed the same, but with inflation, her buying power has shrunk significantly, forcing her to live “smaller and smaller.” This hit home for me as I saw this with my mother too - she became a shell of her former vibrant self, limiting her time to her tv, her books and my visits. It was like she was shrinking in front of my eyes. No one should face this type of future if they don’t want to, and with entrepreneurship, there’s a real alternative.
Dream Business
What it's like when you find your dream business?
"When I started working with Renée I had lost my sense of who I was, and it was impacting all aspects of my life. I hated what I was doing so she took me through a powerful exercise that lead me to see my super powers. As a result, I started my business as a coach for craftpreneurs and my life has been forever changed. Specifically, Renée gave me the tools to pursue my passion. I now always aim to be brutally honest and aligned with my "WHY" and no longer play small. I have actionable tools I can use whenever I am at a crossroads or facing a tough decision, thanks to her.
Renée changed my approach to business. Now, I know how to set measurable goals and measure success. I get to see others fulfill their business dreams and goals and I continue learning and adding value for my clients. Overall, I am a calmer, happier person. I have a better, more honest relationship with myself and others. My home is much quieter in the good sense of the word; i.e. I’m no longer shouting. As a family, we are happier and much more in tune with each other. There is joy in our family." Margarita Kertes, MargCoaching for Craftpreneurs
Vision...
What is your vision for your retirement?
Starting a business is an opportunity to build an independent source of income that you control, while also keeping your mind active, engaging in personal growth, and living with a sense of freedom and purpose.
Let’s redefine retirement together so that you can thrive, grow, and live life fully on your terms. The good news is you can do this even if you are still working full time. You don't have to wait. You can start small and then decide how much you want to scale. And you get to decide if you want to manage employees. Maybe you want a business where it's just you and eventually a virtual assistant or maybe you will decide to grow a larger business to leave a legacy and pass it on to your daughter (or son).
When you build a business of your own, you’re in control! It starts with a spark—an idea—and the commitment to explore whether that idea is worth pursuing. You don’t have to have it all figured out, and you don’t need a big investment to get started. By taking small, steady actions, you’ll uncover what works, refine your concept, and build confidence in your vision.
Owning your own business can be a thrilling journey—full of adventure and growth. If you’re someone who loves to learn and expand, there’s nothing quite like it!
And if you’re concerned about retirement savings, this is an ideal time to think about creating a secondary income stream. Social Security alone may not be enough to cover the lifestyle you want, so why not take steps now to secure your future in a way that’s engaging, flexible, and entirely on your terms? With your own business, you’ll never have to settle for a “retirement job” that doesn’t inspire you. Instead, you’ll have the freedom to build something meaningful and fulfilling.
Your Time to Thrive!
Leave “Retirement Jobs” to Someone Else—This Is Your Time to Thrive
There’s no need to compromise on what you deserve. With entrepreneurship, you have the chance to redefine retirement by doing something impactful and rewarding, all while securing your financial future. Let’s make it happen.
